Custom systems were developed using Microsoft Excel. Each system interacted with various platforms and sources to download data automatically and produce reports. The application typically incorporated sales, performance and reporting of contracts.
 
Strategic Mine Operational Planning Model, Adani QLD Australia
A major project was undertaken to develop a simulation model used primarily in a bankable feasibility study. The model automatically scheduled a mine plan based on user inputs, and was capable of performing ‘what if?’ analysis. It demonstrated significant savings and value add. Amongst other things, it also reported the likelihood that a given plan would be successful. This model was developed using ExtendSim and Microsoft Excel.

Operations Planning Tool
This application facilitates the planning for coal production from the ROM through to Shipments at the port. It tracks the movement of coal at every stage of the coal chain, automatically calculating quality specifications, penalties and demurrage, so that the planner can make an informed decision. Mine Plan Testing Software
This software was developed in order to calculate the robustness of a mine plan using the major equipment paths in Xpac. It automatically scheduled the other minor tasks and then simulated it to see how the tasks interacted with each other. The resulting "P Tests" showed how likely a given plan was to succeed. Other valuable information was also reported such as utilisation curves and resource demands.
 
Rail Scheduling Tool, BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Western Australia
A tool was created in Microsoft Excel to develop and monitor the changes to the rail schedule. The outputs of this tool provided valuable information to management, identifying areas to improve performance. The tool used an ODBC link to automatically obtain the latest information from the data systems.
 
Rolling stock Scheduling Tool, QR National Coal South, Australia
A visual, interactive application was developed using Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition to schedule the rolling stock movements at Callemondah yard.
 
Train Crew Tool, QR National Coal South, Australia
A train crew tool was developed in Microsoft Excel to be used as an interim measure to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the train crew roster.
 
Planning and Scheduling Tools, DBCT, Australia
A suite of tools were designed and developed in Microsoft Excel to assist the planning co-ordinator.  The time horizons were from day of operations through to 14 days.  The planning functions included scheduling ships at the berth, placement of coal in the yard, and requesting trains to meet the shipping demand subject to all the constraints within the supply chain.
